Riomar shoes are made by hand in Portugal on a European last, and they run true to size. Find your US size below for the EU equivalent, then read the fit notes – particularly the one about width.

We build one width: standard American medium. We do not offer narrow or wide fittings in any style.

Because our last is European, our shoes are best worn snug, without socks.

Men’s styles are offered in half sizes through 12, then in whole sizes 13, 14 and 15. Women’s styles are offered in half sizes from 5.5 through 10.

How Our Shoes Fit

Do Riomar shoes run true to size?

Yes. Order the US size you normally wear. Our shoes are built on European standards and can run slightly narrower than a standard American shoe, but the length is true.

Do you offer wide or narrow widths?

No. Every Riomar style is built in one width, standard American medium. If you typically need a wide fitting, reach out to the Commodore at customerservice@riomarshoes.com before you order and we’ll give you an honest answer about whether they’ll work for you.

Should I wear socks with them?

Our shoes are built to fit snug and to be worn without socks. The lining is odor-proof and antimicrobial, so going sockless is the intended experience – and it’s how you should judge the fit when you first try them on.

Will my shoes stretch?

A little, where your foot wants it – but how much depends on the leather. The suedes are the supplest and will give the most. The Fathom series is the most firm and will give the least. Everything else sits in between.

I’m between sizes. Should I go up or down?

Write to the Commodore at customerservice@riomarshoes.com and tell us the style you’re looking at and what you normally wear. Because the leather and last differ between our lines, the right answer changes by style – we’d rather advise you than guess.

Does the waterproofing change the fit over time?

No. Our leathers are fully waterproofed during the tanning process rather than treated on the surface, so getting them wet won’t shrink them or change how they sit on your foot. They are built to perform on the water – though, to be clear, this is no water sock.
